The Eyewear Gallery Gives the Gift of Sight

–The Eyewear Gallery and the Lions Recycle For Sight Program Partner to Recycle Eyeglasses for the Underprivileged –

Reston, VA – November 2, 2009 – The Eyewear Gallery, a premier eyewear boutique in the Reston Town Center, announced that it has partnered with the Lions Recycle For Sight program to launch the Give the Gift of Sight Event. Bring in an old pair of glasses to donate to the Lions Club and receive up to $75 off the purchase of a new complete pair of glasses from The Eyewear Gallery. For the month of November, The Eyewear Gallery will be collecting used prescription eyeglasses as well as prescription and non-prescription sunglasses as part of a unique recycling program. The collected glasses will be cleaned and prepared for distribution in developing countries where eye care is often unaffordable and inaccessible.

The Lions Clubs help to conserve sight by providing usable eyeglasses to children and adults throughout the world. Donated eyeglasses can help millions to experience corrected vision for the first time, enabling them to read, attend school, gain employment and take care of their families. Eyeglass recycling is one of the Lions’ most popular activities.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with the Lions Club,” said Dr. Dawn Devany Gammon, Optometrist and CEO of The Eyewear Gallery. “In most developing countries, an eye exam can cost as much as one month’s wages and a single eye doctor may serve a community of hundreds of thousands of people. We encourage everyone to help pitch in this holiday season. The Give the Gift of Sight Event is one way to give back and save on your next pair of glasses.”
